Collection 17180
Wishlist 2587

First started collecting in 1961 when I found that records that didn't get a lot of votes on Murray The K's nightly 'Boss New Sounds' (or whatever it was called) were hard to find! Still at it.

Harley Luse - Under The Bamboo Tree / Spanish Circle
Either this is a reissue from 1955 or later or this record was not released in 1947. This design came into being in 1955.

The Thrashers - Forever My Love / Jeannie
Although "Jeannie" is technically the B side, it is the side collectors are after, thus there are very few images of the A side.

The Tone Twins - Hey Pretty Girl / How Can I Win Your Love
Apparently, this is Jimmy Lewis harmonizing with himself.

Tiny Bradshaw - These Things Are Love / I've Been Around
Images. Comes both on the "maestro" label design and on the later more simple Savoy label design.

"These Things Are Love" contains the earliest version known to me of the talking complaint found also in Larry Darnell's "I'll Get Along Somehow", Ruth Brown's "Three Letters" and finally and most famously on the Velvetones' "Glory Of Love":
Quote:
I hold in my hand dear, three letters, three letters from the stages of your fine, fine, superfine career...

I remember reading somewhere that this "three letters" talk originated even earlier, but I no longer can find any mention of the details. Any further knowledge about the story would be much appreciated.

His Grace King Bishop Louis H. Narcisse - Whole World In His Hand
Opinions vary as to the release date, with some sources claiming a 1964 or even 1965 date. However, the label logo strikes me as indicating 1959 - identical to the design on Music City 78-819 but definitely done after Laurie London's hit of 1959.
