Collection 17247
Wishlist 2626

First started collecting in 1961 when I found that records that didn't get a lot of votes on Murray The K's nightly 'Boss New Sounds' (or whatever it was called) were hard to find! Still at it.

Babs' 3 Bips And A Bop - Everything Is Cool / 1280 Special
Note on this record, he is still known as "Babs" Brown, despite already appearing on his Blue Note singles as Babs Gonzales.

Golden West Singers And The Elder In Charge - Healing Prayer
After finally getting around to reading "The Music City Story" booklet accompaning the CD box set, it is clear that the gospel (also comedy, weirdly) series started with this record, #888 and then proceeded backwards down to 882.This has of course given discographers fits, but the dates are clearly laid out in a discography in that booklet. Whence comes the date now attached. The booklet also mentions the longevity of this group and confirms that - with evolving membership - it is the same group that recorded for Music City in the mid-70s.

Que Martin's Orchestra - I Couldn't Stay Away / Your Money Ain't Long Enough
Ace Records UK gives the date of these releases - this one and the two by Chick Morris - as 1953, not 1955. To me this makes sense, because the very first Music City releases are from 1954, and label owner Ray Dobard didn't use Delcro again until 1959.

"Stick" McGhee And His Buddy - Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee / Blues Mixture
I'm sure I once had a copy of this record with two different record numbers for the A and B sides, and even a different label design on each side. My 78s are in such disarray, I don't know if I still have it.

Hadda Brooks - Just A Little Blusie / Swingin' The Boogie
My copy has the exact same print and logo layout as the blue labels here, but is red instead of blue.
