rhythmdog 21st May 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Mello-Moods - Where Are You (Now That I Need You) / How Could You? (1951) | This label is part of the Red Robin series. A brief stab at a label name, after which they changed to Red Robin. Then, to make things more confusing, they went back a number for the next release on the label...
rhythmdog 21st May 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Mello-Moods - I Couldn't Sleep A Wink Last Night / And You Just Can't Go Through Life Alone (1952) | A rare 78. Image of the A side.

rhythmdog 20th May 2023 | | 78 RPMDick Lewis And His Harlem Rhythm Boys - Hurricane Boogie / Eight O' Clock Stomp (1947) | Also exists with the title "Hurricane Boogey"; different label style, orange label.
rhythmdog 16th May 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Cleo-Patrettes - Say Would You Babe / No Other Love (1953) | Although Disco-Files says 1954, the numbering suggests 1953.

rhythmdog 16th May 2023 | | 78 RPMCampbell's Blue Notes - See See Rider / Layin' My Racket (1944) | Predates the drawing of Apollo. I would guess 751 and 752, and 351 and 352 all came out at the same time. All later Apollo 78's seem to have had the drawing of Apollo on them.
rhythmdog 14th May 2023 | | 78 RPMCherri Lynn - Baby I'm Gone / Wait (1954) | No images, but one sale. A side bootlegged on a 45 paired with A side of Apollo 456.

rhythmdog 1st May 2023 | | 78 RPMQue Martin's Orchestra - I Couldn't Stay Away / Your Money Ain't Long Enough (1955) | Images here
Que Martin seems to have had connections in both the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas.
rhythmdog 1st May 2023 | | 78 RPMChick Morris - Suspense Song / Go To Bed With A Worry | In the absence of further information, based on a listen, this would be late 40's/early 50's, likely before the Music City label was founded nearby.
rhythmdog 6th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMArt Shelton's Orch. - You Thrill Me So / Dynaflow (1953) | I don't know about that, Mike. According to Lou Silvani (and admittedly, he had both a wrong record number and misspelled the name of the orchestra) - the singers on the record included "Lester Gardner (lead), Lowe Murray (1st tenor), Cecil Holmes (2nd tenor and baritone), and Ron Anderson (bass). All except Gardner became members of the Fi-Tones."
This is more or less backed up by the line-up in Disco-Files 6th Ed.: "Ronald Anderson, Lester Gardner, Cecil Holmes, Marlowe Murray, Leroy Randolph". (All except Gardner listed as members at one point or another of the Fi-Tones). Looks like the only argument would be whether or not Leroy Randolph sang on the record. And checking further, maybe he was only on the "Dynaflow" side - instead of Lester Gardner (who isn't named on that side, just "Caverliers Quartet")

rhythmdog 5th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMArt Shelton's Orch. - You Thrill Me So / Dynaflow (1953) | Very rare and no images available. A bootleg 45 with an incorrect record number was made of this, see

rhythmdog 18th Mar 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Feathers - Why Don't You Write Me / Busy As A Bumble Bee (1955) | The B side was replaced on 45 with "Where Did Caledonia Go" by The Five Stars [L.A.]. Unknown whether that version also exists on 78.
This is the first release of the song "Why Don't You Write Me" - The Jacks' version won out with the public, probably at least partially due to stronger promotion from the Biharis.
rhythmdog 18th Mar 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Five Stars [L.A.] - Walkin' An' Talkin' / Where Did Caledonia Go (1954) | A Side: Vocal Solo Walter Robinson
B Side: Vocal Solo Jimmy Huff
rhythmdog 16th Mar 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Charmers - He's Gone / Oh! Yes (1957) | On the US release, the A side was "Oh! Yes".
rhythmdog 16th Mar 2023 | | 78 RPMHayden Thompson - Love My Baby / One Broken Heart (1957) | Despite the US release of this occurring in September 1957, the numbering on Quality seems to argue for a November Canadian release.
