Scratchy45 23rd Jan 2020 | | 78 RPMThe Choirs Of Westminster Abbey And H.M. Chapels Royal - Praise My Soul The King Of Heaven / Psalm 67 (1948) | Appears to be UK issue - "made in England", but may not have been sold there. Side 1 has the recording angel trade mark and a sticker saying (with line spacings as it appears):
Made in England
Radio Corporation of America
Trade marks
British West Indies
Possibly a legal requirement if sold at the time in British West Indies with that trademark?

Scratchy45 18th Jan 2020 | | 78 RPMEnrico Caruso - Vaghissima Sembianza / Sultanto A Te (Only For You) (1934) | A slip does seem most likely. [mod:corrected]
|
Scratchy45 18th Jan 2020 | | 78 RPMEnrico Caruso - Vaghissima Sembianza / Sultanto A Te (Only For You) (1934) | Some slightly fuzzy scans added. I don't see how this could be a 1954 issue unless as a repress, given the cat#. 1933/4 seems far more realistic.

Scratchy45 18th Jan 2020 | | 78 RPMVarious Artists - Paint Your Wagon Side 1 / Paint Your Wagon Side 2 (1953) | Non-banded - hence I have put "track-listing" & the artists into notes.
|
Scratchy45 16th Jan 2020 | | 78 RPMAlan And Gloria Kane - The Magic Pipe | A bit of an oddity. A square card with a spindle hole onto which a very thin single-side square-edged 78rpm flexi has been glued.

Scratchy45 11th Jan 2020 | | 78 RPMMário Simões E Seu Conjunto - Madragoa / Uma Casa Portuguesa | Thanks for the link scrough.
Scans added - though will try and improve on them (a while since I scanned a 78 and have a new PC and scanner setup).
Second side should be credited to Carlos Fernando - on basis of label credit. Youtube illustrations of labels better than my scans.

Scratchy45 10th Jan 2020 | | 78 RPMMário Simões E Seu Conjunto - Madragoa / Uma Casa Portuguesa | Scans to follow. Entered as UK whether that's correct or no - rights statement in English outside
circular band on upper perimeter of label, with shortened version in Portuguese on lower half of label within circular band. I suspect the cat# is not a UK one.
Very confusing artist credits, which I've mucked up. Until scanned can be seen in part on discogs. On side 1 the bandleader is given top billing ( with vocal credit for Carlos Fernando) , on the other Carlos Fernando has top billing and bandleader and orchestra are demoted.

Scratchy45 10th Dec 2017 | | 78 RPMThe B.B.C. Symphony Orchestra - Fantasia On A Theme By Thomas Tallis Part 3 / Fantasia On A Theme By Thomas Tallis Conclusion (1940) | Seems to be either 1939 or 1940 by cat# sequence but cannot find any online source to confirm.

|
Scratchy45 1st Dec 2017 | | 78 RPMDjango Reinhardt - Mixture / Bei Dir War Es Immer So Schön (1942) | I agree with LouisDidney's comment of 3 years ago; this seems to be a Belgian release. While I don't often use discogs as a source
the releases on their database for the Rythme label backs it up. Do the stamps also indicate it to be a Belgian release?
[Edit] This French language discography identifies the Rythme label as Belgian.

Scratchy45 28th Nov 2017 | | 78 RPMLondon Philharmonic Orchestra - Symphony No. 40 In G Minor (1938) | Appears to be part of a 3-disc set that should logically be L.X. 8344, L.X. 8345, L.X. 8346. Released later in the US Columbia Masterworks series as album M-316, UK LX 656-8

Scratchy45 26th Nov 2017 | | 78 RPMBenno Moiseiwitsch - Sonata In C Minor Op. 13 (Pathetique) 2nd Movement / Sonata In C Minor Op. 13 (Pathetique) 2nd Movement (Rondo) (1941) | Recorded 11 September 1941
according to this page for a Naxos CD reissue of this and other recordings
For whatever reason, side 4 label colour is actually very different from side 3, as per scans.

Scratchy45 26th Nov 2017 | | 78 RPMGinette Neveu And The Philharmonia Orchestra - Concerto In D Major, Op. 77, 1st Movement (Part 1) (1948) | Label scan from a sadly broken disc with embossed tax code D/T. Appears to be excerpt from a 5-disc set of the work which appears to have been issued with a couple of different cat# sequences dependent on market.
[Edit] I have just added the 2 discs DB 9129 and 9130, and also realised the DBS prefix means a single-sided disc in the DB series - so this is the first of that series. If this disc had 2 sides it would be DB.9126 rather than DBS.9126.
