Amos And Andy (Correll And Gosden) - Is Everybody In Your Family As Dumb As You Is? (1929)
Original scans do have a greenish hue on my computer , and some 'squiggles as can be seen on the original scans' doing my adjust level on the originals gives me a washed out images completely , so resized to 80% and 300 dpi , then circled then saved as jpg 99%ish , was not particulary green when I saved but bringing it int 78rpm gave rise to the green shading I note, so re-open files on my laptop and they had the green shade , adjusted level and got the black levels back ( assuming the label is a darker black ) , re- uploaded as new pictures. Take your pick and delete what you dont want. Why paint.net is changing the shade on my first saving to disc is a bit of a mystery.

I have re done a scan showing the gold lettering , but I remember the original was showing up blotchy on the black , reading 45cat notes on editing looks like I should have adjusted DPI to give better interpolation to change things , I dont think I can get paint to layer the gold lettering over the black background ( I am not that clever ).

I note the same problem has happened with a couple of other scans from Louis on Victor that have been edited by others , it may be Louis scanner / camera / program that is coding the black in a different way to how paint etc is expecting.

Should I get scanning on my own 78s I am dreading trying to get 3 assorted shades of plum on His Master's Voice correct.
Sorry for the aggro , but its better to clear up these little niggles in the early days of 78rpm world. I have similar problems over on 45cat that I might try out on my own scans of 1970s CBS labels getting the orange shade correct.

Used paint to make labels circular , maybe in the jpg down to about 96% of original size the computer has rendered the black to a different shade , which I did not touch , database should still have the original scans in it. I have the Paint.net of B side still , which I have clicked on Auto-Level ( learn a new trick every day ) , which has made the green-ish hue go away and back to black , presumably same would occur on the original A side or my edit of. I'll ask a mod to let them be re-editable , will upload B again , see what you think. Downloaded A side label and done same modification to it as well. I will pop the comment about adjustments / auto adjust ( which I have used in Windows photo viewer on my own pictures ) and also ask about png vs jpg as being better for less loss of clarity.

Little Richard - Keep A Knockin' / Can't Believe You Wanna Leave (1957)
YouTube's mangling of most sound + my rough laptop speakers don't help either , and the original deck is what I guess most teenagers had , but it does seem like some in your collection do have something extra to give, possibly better than the company's 45 issues , if you get time .

How to confuse me , two different dance bands , each playing tunes that are also played on other records by yet more dance orchestras. On her doorstep has some different words to Jack Jackson's version.

Thanks , makes sense with the BBC radio / TV features on the birth of the LP, which mentioned vynlyite (Union Carbide Trade Mark ) http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/629579/Vinylite

Britannica tells us this was in 1930, I guess that RCA's use of this was determined by cost , Shellac was cheap (?) , comparatively, at least until US entered WW2 and the import of the raw materials for Shellac was restricted accross the Pacific ( so how come in UK enough Shellac remained for domestic usage - or did the high taxes mean actual disc sales in UK were relatively low ?

Jelly Roll Morton - The Pearls / King Porter Stomp (1944)
With a TT tax code the above record would date from around 1943. (1944 from the cat number sequencing )

The course of disc collation never goes smooth , the one in front of me has an N tax code , 10 years later. King Porter Stomp retains its B Side , but adjacent the 1007 which I would have added the disc under , both sides have 03564 as slightly larger font number and Darevski Music is spelled out.

Like the previous entry I put in it seems its only my finger prints on the disc , looks black and unplayed , but a crack in one side near the edge , probably from me mis-handling it.

Glenn Miller - A String Of Pearls / Blue Rain (1946)
Searching for this record , Wiki has a scan , which I have cleaned up to cat Standard ?

My copy here has what seems a slightly smaller His Master's Voice label with a darker red ( or brown ) label. With and spelled out.

I have seen labels with the OA matrix number printed beside the publisher box. (see youtube one !! ).

Just taken my one out of its ( retailer) brown paper jacket (N tax code) , and apart from my mucky fingers in so doing the disc appears unplayed in a nice dark shade of black.. Its in a local to me retailer sleeve and I think it came from a car boot pile for pennies a few years back but I cannot wholly recall.
