Robert Sielle and Annette Mills, the composers and "supervisors" of "The Moochi", were husband and wife. Annette Mills was later well known for her television appearances with Muffin the Mule.
This song was first published in 1963. Versions of it were released in the USA by The Fleetwoods and Bernie Schwartz, in the UK by Bernie Balentine (exactly the same recording and same catalogue number as Bernie Schwartz in the US), in Germany by Draga Baleno, and in France, under the title of "Allo", by Arielle. There is an incomplete recording of the song by The Everly Brothers which has been released in recent years. The singer on this demo is definitely the co-writer, Jackie DeShannon.
