Hello! I am new here, but have always been into vinyl and other old records as well as tape formats too.

I always come across enormous boxes of shellac 78's at thrift stores and yard sales, and heave the 50-something pound boxes into my house for an average of a dime a record.

Picked up my first ones in 2007 or so for $12 for a small 10 page record book of them at Goodwill. Then found a box of 100 or so at Goodwill in 2012 for $8, then in 2014 found another box of 50 or so at a yard sale for $6.

As of this writing (1-29-2015), working on organizing and cataloging them. I will be adding ones that are not on the site already, and clicking "I Own It" as I go through cataloging them in Excel in tandem with this site.

I am still a beginner collector, and don't know a whole lot yet.

I am unable to add any label scans to the site at the current time, as I do not have a scanner that has a wide enough bed to perform such a task.

I can't always add this information,as I am not sure who the composer is out of all the names listed all over the label. I'm sorry but this music is 50 years before my existence, so I'm not exactly "in the know" about who is who with the same certainty as other older members here.

Monah	@ doberman I just read a Billboard article from 1948 about a handful of radio DJ's that picked a 7 year old song (at the time) and played it, as an experiment. They played it a few times a day just to see what effect it had, and within no time at all, this 7 year old song that everyone forgot became a nationwide hit everywhere, enough to start the presses again and make a lot more copies. (It wasn't this song though, it was a different one.)
