I know for certain that his nom de plume was Andy Razaf. I'm sure he chose it to simplify matters and would have been chagrined to find it still being mis-spelled.

I have seen his birth name written at least three different ways. If you look in his FBI file from the 1940s (accessible from the Wikipedia footnotes), they have it as Razafkeriefo. Another source I consulted a long while ago had it as Razafinkeriefo. Wikipedia has chosen your version, which may give it some degree of currency. I'm not sure where they got it from but there are several possible sources cited, including one full-fledged biography.

Since Razaf was born here in 1895, he might have an official birth certificate. It is also probable that his WWI draft card is a matter of public record now and most likely available for viewing online, although it may not reference his birth name.

I'm sure people misspelled his last name all the time even though Andy Razaf had already tried to make it easy for them. His full name at birth, as you, of course, know, was Andriamanantena Paul Razafinkarefo.

Razof, the second composer on Side A, should have been Razaf (as in Andy).
