Comments and Reviews xiphophilos 30th Dec 2022 Reviewed in the Gramophone, August 1946, page 39:
"Poor recording unfortunately mars both sides of Carmen Cavallaro's recordings of "Enlloro" from "Hollywood Canteen" and "Polonaise." Well known from his film appearances as a pianist of extraordinary ability, the leader does most of the work on both sides of this disc, and it is most unfortunate that the recording makes him sound as though he is playing alternately a xylophone and a set of bottled chimes - in fact , anything but a piano - very much the same fault which I noted above in regard to a recording by Hazel Scott (Brunswick 03640)."
Here you can check if you agree with this rather harsh verdict:

Granted, the record version of "Enlloro" sounds dull compared to the film version. xiphophilos 30th Dec 2022 Clip from "Hollywood Canteen" (USA, December 1944; UK: June 1945) in which Carmen Cavallaro and his orchestra perform "Enlloró":
The recording on Brunswick 03640 was made much later than the film version, in March 1945. Redpunk SUBS8th Apr 2021 Added N label scans. Redpunk SUBS22nd May 2016 Added NP label scans. soultwinz SUBS20th Dec 2014 Earlier LT label variant image added
