Yes, since the ad is from June 7, the record could easily have come out the previous month.

I think we can be sure it was from 1950. But I wouldn’t be 100% sure it was from June that year.

I agree, this June 1950 ad probably mentions Petula Clark's "Music, Music, Music" because it was a recent release at the time (or at least a current hit). Who would advertise that they are now finally selling a hit record that has been out for more than 6 months?

Very interesting, but it doesn’t actually say it’s a new release as far as I can see? I suppose it would be recent at least.

Just found an ad in a contemporary Australian newspaper that dates this release to ca. June 1950.

I don't think this is from 1949. I think her first Polygon sessions (where she recorded these tracks) were in 1950. In 1949 she was recording for Decca and EMI. I think the early Esquire records were 'testing the market' in Australia. This is often cited in Pet's official biographies (in concert souvenir programmes etc) as her first record, when collectors know it isn't! I suppose it makes a better story that her first recording was called 'Music, Music, Music'...!
[Changed date to 1950. Mod.]

Was gonna reply to LouisSidney's comment here but it's vanished. Anyway, you're right LS - the link you had was exactly the item I was talking about.

Yes -- it is 1949. Typo on my part. I'll request a correction

I thought this was a 1949 issue but could be wrong. Amazing that several of her early 78s were ONLY released in Australia. 78s of hers on Esquire and Radiola used to turn up quite often here in Oz in junk shops but are now rarely seen. I had an Australia only double 78 of hers in heavy card gatefold picture sleeve in very clean condition on Radiola in my shop stock for years at a very cheap price but couldn't sell it. I eventually put it on ebay but still no nibbles probably due to the weight of an overseas parcel. It eventually left me at a record fair and the buyer probably sold it on to someone in France. C'est la vie I suppose.
