Settlemeier does all his own editing on the ODP (78discography), but you would be correct in guessing that this particular bit of data (the 1954 release date of Atlantic 1054) started with me, and it is most likely the Propes date, because I had nothing better at the time I submitted that page to Ty. I like the Feb 1955 date better now, too. I will pass it along with my next Atlantic update, but I can't say when it will finally appear online. Like myself, Ty is perpetually taking on new tasks even though he is already pursuing more than one man should. His circle of correspondents gets larger all the time and the amount of data he receives must be overwhelming.

February 1955 is a safe bet for the release month considering the Review Spotlight for this record in the Billboard issue of February 26, 1955 and the Atlantic ad for four new singles with the consecutive catalog numbers 1153, 1154, 1155 and 1156 in the same Billboard issue (both on page 57). In addition, the matrix numbers (1417, 1418) suggest a January 1955 recording.*

The 1954 release date (see also Online Discographical Project, possibly edited by yourself) may spring from the wrongly copied catalog number 1054.

Steve Propes in "Those Oldies But Goodies" gave a released date of 1954. In my notes, it shows April 1954, but that is not from Propes and I no longer know where it came from. Jay Warner in "American Singing Groups" gave a release date of Feb 1955.

Not just the Drifters shadow, the Clovers shadow also. But I liked them too.

Really a shame that this group was always in the shadow of The Drifters on Atlantic.
