M.G. Thomas (link) claims that green labels denoted gospel music, which would fit here.

The "All Rights Reserved" text around the label is in English on the French Vogues on 45worlds as well. So this could well be a French record. It's also in the collection of the French Maison du Jazz, which seems another indication of possible French origin (link). The latter date this record to 1947, by the way.

The label design is the French Vogue design. It is not printed in French, however, which issues meant for the French market certainly would be, even when the artist is uniquely American, as in this case. The label color could be a tip off. As I recall, home market records had purple labels. The blue-green may stand for an export product. I wouldn't be misled by the Modern Records, Hollywood legend above the artist credit. I'm pretty sure that's where Vogue borrowed the master from to make this record. You can probably find the identical track, possibly the identical disc on the contemporary Modern label also.

Probably France, as D.P. on the label stands for "Domain Publique" (Public Domain). Vogue was a French company (though they operated elsewhere too), and from my admittedly limited observations, used "Vogue Productions" for licensed recordings, and "Disques Vogue" for their own recordings. Somebody please correct me if that's wrong!

Anyone know in which country this was issued?
