This record was previously entered as released in January 1950, apparently because it was mentioned in the advance information in the January 7, 1950 issue of The Billboard, see Notes.

Looking more closely after having read Robey's Bluff, or the Curious Case of Peacock 1506, I found out that it must have been released in October 1949 at the latest, as it was listed in Billboard's Most-Played Juke Box R&B Records charts for the week ending November 4, 1949 (actually both sides: "Mary Is Fine" on #8 and "Time Is Expensive" on #9).

This and the blog above confirm that Peacock did not start to release records in 1950 but several months before:

Peacock 1506 was released in July, 1949, about four or five months prior to when we thought the label started up, and prior to lower numbers 1502 and 1504. Accepting that Robey started Peacock to record Gatemouth Brown, the “Atomic Energy” version of 1500 is certainly the first Peacock release, and therefore pre-dates July, 1949. And if this is true, Peacock really debuted in the first half of 1949 -- but, amazingly, no one noticed at the time.
