Reissue of Victor 16390, which was originally released in October 1909 with the same titles but earlier recordings by different performers (Vess L. Ossman resp. the Westminster Chimes played by Chris Chapman).

A side (mx. B-24292, take 1) recorded New York, NY, September 22, 1920.
B side (mx. B-25373, take 2) recorded Camden, NJ, June 28, 1921.

xiphophilos 23rd Nov 2020		The A side is a very animated recording of several popular old tunes, "Dixie;" "Arkansas Traveler;" "Sailor's Hornpipe;" "Turkey In The Straw". Shows why Fred Van Eps on the banjo ruled supreme at some point (after he had replaced Vess L. Ossman in the audience's favor). The B side is a tubular bells version of "Auld Lang Syne." It sounds as if it were performed on a carillon, but the Victor blue history card says "Tube bells." It's a nice version, but not half as exciting as the A side.
