Mike, your variant label represents the original release:

1928-1929 Viva-tonal style label marked as "Viva-tonal Recording" with one patent date (Jan. 21, '13) and patent nr. RE. 16588 at bottom, cf. M. Sherman & K. Nauck, "Note the Notes," page 32.

The other one is a repress:
1929-1930 Viva-tonal style label marked as "Viva-tonal Recording" with one patent date (Jan. 21, '13) and patent nr. RE. 16588 and 1702564 at bottom, cf. M. Sherman & K. Nauck, "Note the Notes," page 32.

Do you happen to know what the source for the personnel is? Others claim Benny Goodman or Jimmy Dorsey for the clarinet (or even in addition to Larry Abbott's clarinet), Bob Effros or Phil Napoleon for the trumpet, and Joe Tarto or Ward Lay for the bass.(e.g., https://hotjazzpie.com/database/annette.php)
