This is an example of a record stock envelope, the type of envelope in which records would be displayed in a record store. It allowed the dealer to keep track of how many copies of a certain record he had in stock and when he had ordered them from his distributor. The stickers with the short description of a record's content were probably supplied by the record distributor together with the stock envelopes. The New York Talking Machine Company was a large distributor for Victor records.

Added image of a "promo sleeve" of some sort, that shows a description of the record and dates and quantities ordered after the release. Probably from a record store.
