 This record was another big hit for Paul Whiteman. Apparently, it was the first disk ever to hit the mark of 1,000,000 sales. It took until 1940-41 for another record to to reach 1,000,000 sales (that was Will Glahe's "Beer Barrel Polka" from 1939) (Billboard, July 4, 1946, page MR-28).

By 1921, Whiteman's "Wispering" had sold almost two million copies.(source)
