 Hi Mike Gann. You're right that this record is in Billboard as an advance record release on page 89 in the December 17, 1949 edition, so it seems to be a late 1949 release.

As the previous catalog number, Modern 20-629 by Jimmy Witherspoon, was already announced in the Billboard edition of October 30, 1948 (page 29), I'd rather say this one here was first issued before Christmas 1948 and then reissued one year later though.
