slholzer 8th Aug 2017		Victor sent its portable recording set-up to Portland Oregon to record these tracks. As a West-coast based orchestra, Kenin's is a subject of some interest these days. Several of his recordings, including Pretty Little Thing, are available for audit on You Tube, although sadly, none of the clips seems to have included a copy of this disc's label. I, for one, am skeptical that the composer credit on Side B rightly belongs to the orchestra. A sheet music cover is displayed in the You Tube clip of Pretty Little Thing that attributes the song to Tommy Malie and Little Jack Little. The cover does not, however, mention Kenin's band or this recording. A similarly titled song recorded by the Savoy Orpheans is also viewable on You Tube and is attributed on the label to Rose and Tobias. An actual label scan would no doubt clear the whole thing up. The date shown above, incidentally, is the recording date, per Rust's American Dance Band Discography. Under normal circumstances, the release date would have been a month or two later.
