I thought the Oakland plant opened in November 1926, by which time the Flag label had been replaced. That's why I wonder where all these domestic "ringless" Columbias originated.

Based on Han's caveat and my own misgivings looking at the evidence, I think it's safest to assume that Flag labels that are accompanied by a take number, mother letter, _and stamper number_, like this one, are most likely U.S. products after all. When you consider that ca. 1000 records could be pressed from each stamper, stamper numbers like 12 and 13, made from the 2nd and 3rd mother (B and C), seem too high to be needed in Canada.

At the time, Columbia had pressing plants not just in Bridgeport, NJ, but also in Oakland, CA.

It might be more correct to conclude that all Columbia Canadian pressings made prior to 1928 lack a center ring, but not all Columbias that lack a center ring are Canadian pressings. That's what I was afraid of. I wonder where else ringless Columbia pressings could have been made?

About Columbia center rings - I knew the article, and think its conclusions are not correct. Ringless flag labels are too common for all to be Canadian pressings. Stampers without number (and only a letter) are very rare; I remember an occasional West Coast pressing (with G or c). I just uploaded a ringless pressing of 113-D sold in Kansas City, stamper A43. So be careful in changing the country.

Thank you @xiphophilos. I see that there are many "ringless" Columbias in the Discogs database.

I've linked the TMW issue and the CAPS/APN 1993 article about the differences between Canadian and U.S. American Columbia releases by Colin Bray and Jack Litchfield. I also added the runouts of your copy from your Discogs entry.
