vocalion red 9th Nov 2016		I remember seeing a Madison in brown shellac once. Another oddity. Should've bought that one too.



xiphophilos 9th Nov 2016		I can only confirm what you say about the low quality of Grey Gulls. I recently ran into two of them, and even though they look quite well preserved, their sound quality is far inferior to contemporary Columbias and Brunswicks. I have never seen a purple label Grey Gull on brown shellac anywhere. I would have picked that one up too!



vocalion red 7th Nov 2016		This is the first time I have seen a Grey Gull disc in brown shellac. I acquired this for my collection solely for that reason, to serve as sort of an oddity there. Personally, I don't like Grey Gulls because the later issues are said to have below average quality audio for the era due to lower quality shellac supplies they used in the late 1920's till the time they went defunct around 1934. If any out there would like to chime in on this, please feel free.
