 Yes, it usually does.

 You are correct.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the database will automatically convert ampersands into "And".

I never knew it was required to use "and" in place of an ampersand. I was under the impression things were to be written out as they appear on the label.

B side (on a French Decca):

"Bill Haley And His Comets" (please spell out the "&" as "And", as is required on this database) is already crosslinked with "Bill Haley". So if the whole phrase appears in the same font and size, I'd add it as "Bill Haley And The Comets".

Thanks for adjusting things, but, if I add a record by Bill Haley & The Comets, should I just say, Bill Haley, and then put & The Comets in the notes?

I added a few other Dick Haymes records tonight, too, and they all showed up in a "Dick Haymes" search, even though the full artist name was much longer. The reason I added it twice is because I thought something went wrong and it didn't get entered. Things don't always work the way they're supposed to with me! I've ha numerous computer problem that techs have never even heard of and have no idea how to fix! I just thought this was going to be another one!

[... and I've just fixed the "With Vic Schoen And His Orchestra". Mod.].

JLC135 has diagnosed the problem correctly.

I've now moved all instances of "And Gordon Jenkins And His Orchestra" viz. "With Gordon Jenkins And His Orchestra" into the Notes and added matrix numbers and dates. Now this record shows up among Dick Haymes' records as well. I've treated "Dick Haymes And Andrews Sisters With Vic Schoen And His Orchestra" similarly, moving the orchestra into the notes.

It makes sense, by the way, to list all these records under the main act, Dick Haymes, whose name is printed in a larger font and on the line above that of "George Jenkins and his Orchestra", see the labels here.

The music is available on archive.org:

Please don't add duplicate entries for the same record.

As there had not been a previous entry for the artist "Dick Haymes And Gordon Jenkins And His Orchestra", it would not have automatically been linked under the "Dick Haymes" artist list (I presume this is what you are referring to?).

You can put in a request for artists to be linked through the 'Make Correction' link below, or alternatively, for future referrence, you can enter the artist as just "Dick Haymes" and add "With Gordon Jenkins And His Orchestra" to the Notes section.

I've added this record to the site twice and it STILL refuses to show up in the Dick Haymes section!
