| | Gloversville didn't establish its own in-house label printing department until after the intro of the later 'star' label in 1954-55. Their 78's, after going that route, used the same 'quatrefoil' symbol as 45's, as evidenced by such releases as this and this. Up to 1956, Gloversville often veered between using their own label type and those printed by Co-Service - which used the same diamond symbol as on labels for the Richmond plant. The 'quatrefoil' signified an in-house Gloversville label typesetting job. Why two different printers - one based in Jersey, the other in Indiana - would use the same diamond symbol, is another question entirely. |

| | Frank Daniels (friktech) says that the Gloversville, NY, plant, which had been open for only a few months before this Four Aces 78 came out, used a "quatrefoil (✤) or plus‐like symbol for singles; they used a target (◉) for LP’s". He doesn't actually say what they used for 78s.
That said, at least some Gloversville 78s must have sported the quatrefoil (✤), e.g., Decca 28952 from Nov. 1953, Decca 29124 from May 1954. |

| | after reading this Decca label info (http://www.friktech.com/labels/DeccaLabelography.pdf) does your (W.B.lbl) statement still hold true? seems like the diamond indicated Richmond plant. the Groverville plant had an clover symbol after the matrix #. both scans clearly have the diamond????? |

| | Richmond, IN's pressings were {Images #601655 & 601654}. The "other" variant was printed by Co-Service Printing Co., Newark, NJ, and is represented by {Images #1272505 & 1268763}. Those were most likely on Gloversville, NY pressings. They're the ones that had Mr. Alberts' name in the same type size as the group. This was true on both 78's and 45's - and on other singles by the group. |

| | So the A side of your record, coveboy, is also clearly different; on both sides, Al Alberts get the same kind of billing (i.e., same font size) as the Four Aces. Thanks for uploading. |

| | Interesting! Both labels were pressed by the Decca Records Pressing Plant in Richmond, IN, as indicated by the diamond shape (◈) after the matrix number on the B side label. But the B side clearly was reset at some point. Does your A side look exactly as the other one, coveboy? |
