 Although Lightnin' Hopkins had still a contract with Aladdin Records, he recorded "Short-Haired Woman" b/w "Big Mama Jump" around May 1947 for Bill Quinn's Gold Star Records (#3131), who also leased the disc to Modern Records (#20-529) when it became a strong regional seller. Which is why Hopkins had to re-record both sides for Aladdin in August 1947 (see Lightnin' Hopkins: His Life and Blues, by Alan Govenar, 2010, p. 47-49).
