Sounding like a King Cole Trio rendition of Big Maceo's "Worried Life Blues", "Trouble Blues" became the biggest R&B record of 1949, topping Billboard's retail and juke box R&B charts for 15 weeks. Though featuring Brown's elegant piano and smooth vocals, the record is credited to the Charles Brown Trio. The other members of this short-lived group were bassist Eddie Williams and guitarist Chuck Norris, who contributes a fine solo in the bridge. Both sides were recorded at the Radio Recorders studio, Los Angeles, the A-side on Jan 14, 1949 (mx 613-5), and the B-side on Nov 10, 1948 (mx RR 600-1).
