Before his only Aladdin record, vocalist Frank Haywood had a few singles in 1945/46 with pianist Monroe Tucker's band on the Apollo and Exclusive labels. Tucker was also pianist of Maxwell Davis' orchestra for these recordings of June 1951, with both sides written by Haywood and Tucker.

Apparently, the two composers were responsible for several more songs made popular by others, e.g. "Rocky Mountain Blues" by Billie Holiday, "Let's Make Christmas Merry, Baby", "Let's Rock a While" and "She's Gone Again" by Amos Milburn, "Please Believe Me" by Charles Brown and Percy Mayfield, and most notably, "Get Yourself Another Fool" by Charles Brown, Sam Cooke, Elvis Costello and, in 2012, Paul McCartney. (Strangely, this song was credited to a certain Edward W. Mitchell on the original Charles Brown single [Aladdin 3020] whereas all other records credit Haywood and Tucker.)
