fixbutte 1st Dec 2014		Tenor saxophonist Maxwell Davis, at this time mainly producer, arranger, session musician and A&R man for Aladdin Records, offered two favorites of the day on his third own single for the label. "Blue Tango" is a pleasant and restrained R&B arrangement of Leroy Anderson's symphonic original (a #1 US hit in 1952), whereas "The Glory of Love", a former Benny Goodman #1 hit that The Five Keys had just made popular again (a #1 R&B in 1951), is just a warm and sentimental tenor sax solo with subtle piano accompaniment, proving that Maxwell Davis was not only a perfect arranger but also an excellent instrumentalist.
