fixbutte 9th Feb 2017		As suggested by slholzer and in contrast to the original submission, the artist here is not Vincent Rose on one side and Karl Merrild on the other side (both are actually the composers) but Tanz-Orchester "Sascha Elmo". This was another pseudonym for Kiev-born Chaim Chaissowsky who would become a well-known German violinist and bandleader in the 1920s under the name of Efim Schachmeister (as a Jew and a jazz musician, he wisely left Germany soon after Hitler's rise to power though). A fine German webpage about Efim Schachmeister is here: http://grammophon-platten.de/page.php?459, well comprehensible for English-speaking people via a translation button on the top left. "Linger Awhile" was first recorded by Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra on November 22, 1923 (Victor 19211) who made it a big hit in the USA and around the world in 1924. Based on this and the Polyphon catalog number, a release year of 1924 for this record is a rather safe guess.
