Flipped sides as announced, see also advert from the Billboard July 3, 1943 issue. In the middle of the first recording ban (1942–44 musicians' strike) which would go on until November 11, 1944 for Columbia and RCA Victor, this was one of only two records that Columbia released in the whole month of June 1943 (the other one, "You're So Good to Me" / "Pushin' Sand" by Kay Kyser And His Orchestra, on Columbia 36676, is still missing from the database).

Another Harry James record to flip. The instrumental "James Session" may be the more spectacular side but, as the generic title suggests, it was the "B"-side, despite its lower matrix number. Both in M. H. Orodenker's review on page 24 and in the Record Buying Guide on page 72 in the June 26, 1943 issue of the Billboard, the Helen Forrest sung "I Heard You Cried Last Night" clearly was the emphasized side. Unsurprisingly, it also became the chart hit, climbing to #5 on the Billboard's National Best Selling Retail Records chart.
