These were Spade Cooley's second and third best chart entries. "Detour", a cover of Jimmy Walker's original, made it to #2 on Billboard's C&W (Most-Played Juke Box Folk Records) charts in March 1946, "You Can't Break My Heart", a Spade Cooley/Smokey Rogers composition, reached #3 in April.

"Detour" is sung by Oakie, Arkie and Tex according to the label. It's hard to come up with all the nicknames in the Western Swing circle, especially in Cooley's band, but it's not impossible. "Tex", of course, was lead vocalist "Tex" Williams who was born Sollie Paul Williams far from Texas in Ramsey, Illinois, and had started with Cooley as "Jack" Williams. "Arkie" at that time was bassist Deuce Spriggens, already an alias for his born name, George Braunsdorf, who was from Kansas, not Arkansas. Finally, "Oakie", "Okie", or "Smokey Okie" was guitarist Eugene Rogers, not born in Oklahoma but in Tennessee.
