Check my sets of images for what 78 RPM Columbia labels' colors should look like. On others' images, there's very much a discrepancy between the actual color and how it appeared in the photo / scan.
I've tracked down Columbia's "New Releases" ad in Billboard, May 24, 1954, and it seems they listed "How Lovely Cooks The Meat" as the slightly favored (A) side. Billboard also first picked "How Lovely Cooks The Meat", but then "Sugarbush" took off.
Make that "any previous Columbia or CBS LP or CD"; Prague Frank's discography shows that many (all?) of these sides were on Bear Family CD's (Columbia sessions start at session 128, 4 April 1951 - and Prague Frank seriously needs to reformat that discography to make it easier to read!).
Isn't "Sugarbush" the A-side, and the higher matrix number just represents the order of recording? Anyway, "How Lovely Cooks The Meat" is now included on a 59-track digital collection released today, COLUMBIA SESSIONS (1951-1955); a lot of hit sides seem to be missing at first glance, so perhaps this collection gathers together tracks that aren't on any previous LP or CD.
