Hi dewey70, it was recorded at Studio 2 in New York and plays at 78 rpm. It's the second picture disc release by Whiteman, the previous being Victor 39000 from 1932.

The other day I saw this Carmen Miranda picture disc in a charity shop. Went back later to get it but it was gone.

Look up "As Thousands Cheer" and you can't help but think that here it's a very deliberate nod to the newspaper connotations too - definitely present by this time.

What did the word "tabloid" mean back then...?

What a wonderful item. This is obviously a very early picture disc. The concept has been around for ever and despite the fascination with the likes of 1940s Vogue picture discs, earlier examples seem to be out there.
