You are right, I had it reversed. Okeh labels from 1931 would cite "© Okeh Phonograph Company, Inc."

Only in 1934 does that credit change to "Columbia Phonograph Company, Inc."

The latest Okeh record with "Okeh Phonograph Company, Inc." credit that our database currently features is Okeh 8948 from Jan. 1934.

I got confused because of some other discs that must also be represses, such as https://www.45worlds.com/78rpm/record/41534

I don't dispute any of the points you make, xiphophilos, but offer some others to consider:

1. Columbia labels continued to cite patent nr. RE. 16588 and 1702564 at bottom through 1938 (label style VIII.B.2 in M. Sherman & K. Nauck, Note the Notes, page 33).

2. Although Otto Heineman sold his General Phonograph Corp. to Columbia in the fall of 1926, OKeh labels didn't cite the Columbia Phonograph Company, Inc. until much later. I think the Columbia notation corresponds roughly to when Grigsby-Grunow purchased Columbia in December 1931. I've been trying to determine what the latest new release to cite the OKeh Phonograph Corporation was, because this would provide a clue to the date of this record. I will say that this Louis Armstrong record is listed with the OKeh Phonograph Corporation credit in Discogs, and that is the original 1931 pressing, I believe.

3. In the OKeh 8000 race series, new releases that state Columbia Phonograph Company, Inc. at the bottom (label type E8) appear only towards the end of that series, which sputtered to a halt in 1935. The first record I could find that had the CPCo notation was OKeh 8953, containing Mississippi Sheiks recordings made in late 1931, but I don't know when that record was released. The next issue, OKeh 8954, contains two Papa Charlie Jackson recordings made in late 1934. Interestingly, OKeh 8949 contains two Bessie Smith recordings made at the end of 1933, but were released with labels that still stated "© Okeh Phonograph Company, Inc." at the bottom. This is how I came up with an estimated 1934 release date for this Armstrong record. cf. Laurie Wright, OKeh Race Records 8000 Series.

So, my 1934-35 guess might be a bit late, but I wouldn't put the date earlier than 1932.

I think that date is a bit too late. I don't believe you have a repress at all, but this is the original release from 1931.

This Okeh label corresponds to Columbia's 1930-1932 Viva-tonal style label marked as "Viva-tonal Recording" with patent nr. RE. 16588 and 1702564 at bottom.

The company name Columbia Phonograph Company, Inc. appears as early as 1924. Starting in 1933, Columbia labels usually list it in abbreviated form, as “© C.P.CO.” Okeh labels instead replaced it with "© Okeh Phonograph Company, Inc.," as on, e.g., https://www.45worlds.com/78rpm/record/45576

Labels are from a ca. 1934-35 repressing, crediting Columbia Phonograph Company, Inc.
