The Melotone Canada 45000 series didn't start until about 1937 ("the later 1930's" according to Russell), pulling material mostly from Decca. Decca had acquired some early Gennett material (including Autry titles) and reissued them on Decca in the U.S. in their 5000 series by 1937. For example, an Autry Gennett recording from February 1931 was issued as Decca U.S. 5464 and Melotone Canada 45156. The pairing on this disc - Melotone 45013 - was not issued by Decca in the U.S., but the release date is more likely late 1937. |
