| fixbutte 8th Mar 2017 | Original 1943 A-side label added and release year corrected accordingly. The nostalgic and escapist "Capri-Fischer", about Italian fishermen putting out to sea at sunset and singing to their ladies to be faithful in the night, was written and recorded in the middle of WWII when Germany and Italy were allies. Released only when the US Army had taken Naples and Capri, it was banned from the German radio immediately. After the war, however, tenor Rudi Schuricke's recording from 1943 became the most popular tune of the war-weary Germans who were longing to go on holiday in sunny Italy.
