Due too sub zero temperatures in my garage may be a little while before I find it.

Sounds like a good idea. I've added "Also available as a 9" dub (1931-1933 repress)" where applicable.

What about your own copy of this record, is it 8" or 9"?

The simplest way out of this is not to have new entries but on the basis of the info from Mike is to add to the Notes also available as a 9" dub as from all the info received so far apart from the matrix numbers the label looks exactly the same for both 8" and 9".

Okay, now I have read more than just the summary tables of M. G. Thomas' page. Here is the relevant info:

"The size increased to 9" in June 1931, before being discontinued at the start of 1933."

The first 9" he lists, though, is not Broadcast 726, but Broadcast 429: Sandy Powell, "The Lost Policeman, part 1&2". This record existed as an 8" and then was reissued between June 1931-1933 as a 9" dub of the original 8-inch record.

The next one is another popular Sandy Powell record, Broadcast 647 "On The Dole - parts 1 & 2", which also exists in both an earlier 8" and a later 9" version.

Then comes Broadcast 659 Charlie Higgins, "With Me Gloves In Me 'And" / "In The Waxworks Late Last Night".

Finally, there is Sandy Powell again with Broadcast 703 "Sandy The Plumber's Mate: The Old Geyser" / "Sandy The Plumber's Mate: The Washer On The Tap"

After that, as was said before, all issues from Broadcast 726 - Broadcast 984 (if it exists) are 9-inch records.

I think it would still be worth checking, Redpunk, if you were not correct after all and own an as yet unrecorded 9-inch dub of Broadcast 483.

X - if you're going to link the page, you should probably read it. (Search: 9")

This comment confirms my feeling that this is a 8" -

From 726 and on they are 9".
So anything below 726 can be changed to 8".

That's an interesting one as yet I'm unable to confirm that the same record could be both sizes I will have to try and find my copy of this one as I just added it to my collection.
The more I try to recall I feel this was a 8".

Oops. Fortunately, the 3 others I corrected to 8" were originally entered by default as 10", and that was definitely a mistake.

M.G. Thomas' website confirms that the 100 - 982 series could be 8" and 9":
http://www.mgthomas.co.uk/Records/LabelPages/Broadcast.htm

So does this mean that the same catalog number can exist in two different sizes?

If yes, then we'd probably have to create two separate, but linked entries for the numbers where that's the case. This entry was originally created by VinylSid, who hopefully knows the difference between 9 and 8 inches better than me (I still struggle with non-metric units of measurements, even after 20 years of being exposed to them on a daily basis).

I'd also guess that they were probably not simultaneously released, but one was a reissue of the other, but I have no idea if that's the case and which version, 8" or 9", would be the earlier one.

No that is not correct there was also 9" versions on this series all the ones I've added as 9" are just that.

And so are all the other Broadcasts, except for the 2500 and 5000-series. I've corrected the mistake above and fixed 3 others while I was at it.

My copy is an 8" version, not 9".
