Actually the Leiber & Stoller one would definitely be of interest to me and will get round to reading it one day. Lonnie Donegan, probably not for me, but it's amazing what peripheral information you pick up from books on artists that don't usually interest you.

Bill, you must stop recommending CDs to me. I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to stop buying them. Besides people on 45cat keep recommending books to me which I really can't afford either. I thought by my age I'd be rich but I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere.

Mickey - All of Rubberlegs recordings are on Blue Moon cd - BMCD 6011 ' Obscure Blues Shouters' from Barcelona. A great cd, dunno if it's still available, I've had it for some time. Well worth seeking out.

Henry "Rubberlegs" Williams came from a vaudeville background and was primarily a dancer, hence his nickname. This record is probably important historically because it was the first recording session that Miles Davis ever played on (not that you can really hear him). Also in the group was the "other" Al Casey who played guitar on numerous New York jazz and R&B sessions and often gets confused with the prolific Los Angeles pop and rock session guitarist with the same name. Details here.
