Notes

EMI released this 78 to capitalise on the growing worldwide popularity of The Beatles. It was issued at a special low price and in a picture sleeve, thus being the only Beatles 78 anywhere in the world to be issued with a picture sleeve. By 13 March 1964 the 78 had completely sold out and was replaced by a normal 7 inch single (spinning at 33 1/3 rpm, which was usual in South America). This 78 release was preceded by 7 inch single releases of From Me To You and Please Please Me in 1963.

Beatles single 78 rpm from argentina "Twist And Shout / I Saw Her Standing There" on old yellow/green Odeon label. Released in Argentina in early 1964 only 350 copies were pressed,at that time Argentina used 33rpm for singles and eps,so Odeon stop to pressed in 78 rpm in 1962 as they have in stock a lot of lacke, they resolve to press this single in 78 rpm at a very low promotional price ($80 Pesos) just when a common single was around (150 pesos) in one week all the stock was sold in the shops, and the record was re-press this time in 33 1/3 rpm. 33rpm was an usual speeded used in south american countries in the 60s 70s and 80s.

"Promo Only" for this website means a record that wasn't available for sale to the general public, so I've changed the designation to a normal record.

Maybe it's just the scan but there are some scary eyes on that sleeve - especially John's.

I can't help thinking that something with a price on the cover can't be "promo only" in the sense that that designation is usually used on these sites.

It was a special promotion item, so it should no doubt be changed to promo. The $80 price is actually 80 Pesos not 80 Dollars. My guess is that we are are talking about 1 US dollar at that time.

It isn't a promo - the "Edition Promotional" refers to the promotional price of $80! Can a mod change the format?
