 Though not exactly recognizable by the catalog number, this was the first-ever Atlantic record. The Poll Cats were all members of Stan Kenton's Orchestra that had just won Billboard's First Annual Disk Jockey Poll of Best-Liked Bands (#1 Swing) and Best-Liked Records (#1 Popular Albums for Artistry In Rhythm, #1 Hot Jazz for Artistry Jumps). The Kenton Orchestra arranger, Pete Rugolo, took Kenton's piano stool for this session.
