 One may readily note that the artist credit on this disc is not to Billy Costello but to the character, "Popeye". Billy Costello was not favored with even a parenthetical mention on this disc. Regal Zonophone MR 2897 (of which I have no photo) probably did as Rex did because the Australian version (G 40071, unlisted in Rust but documented on this site) did. Costello was treated slightly better on Melotone M13402, where his name was shown in parentheses and smaller type under Popeye's. I don't have a photo, but I would guess that Perfect 13142 followed the Melotone pattern, as they were stablemate labels and close correspondence was the norm. Brian Rust, in the Complete Entertainment Discography, Second Edition, makes no reference to any of this. The sides are simply listed under Billy Costello. Incidentally, per Rust, the sides were recorded in New York on April 27, 1935. The mx for side A 17393-, for side B 17394-.
