Hi, edlongus. I can't tell you about the size of the phonograph, but each issue of the Phonograph Monthly Review had only about 30 to 40 pages. However, they counted the pages for a whole year (starting not in January but in October), which constituted a "Volume" of about 400 to 500 pages.

Here's a link to all issues available on the web (in the Internet Archive): https://archive.org/details/thephonographmonthlyreview

Thanx fixbutte for the very interesting article!! I wonder how large was this 'large phonograph at the door of the shop'?!? Large enough to draw a crowd, apparently. And also how large were those issues of Phonograph Monthly Review, July 1927?!? Seems the article was from Page 444??!! That sho' is a LOTTA bathroom reading... ☺

B side label variant image added. Comedy sketch is lower(image # 1642391) with different phrasing then the other B side label variant (image # 1374160) but same wording as the original entry B side(image #580821) entry.

Although there were no charts at all in 1927 (Joel Whitburn simply made them up in the 1980s*), this was definitely one of the biggest sellers of the 1920s, as confirmed by a contemporary review that I have uploaded here.

Per Record Research, both sides first charted on Jun 25, 1927. Charted for 12 weeks and reached # 1. George Moran and Charles Mack (real name Charles Sellers) were a comedy talking team.

Label variant images added. On the A side the words "comedy sketch" are lower. On the B side the words "comedy sketch" are lower also, and the phrasing at the bottom of the record is different.
