fixbutte 28th Oct 2014		The pseudonym is correctly spelled Lewis Allan, as seen on Billie Holiday's famous "Strange Fruit" recording (Commodore 526). As Meeropol was still a public high school teacher in 1944, he probably would have used his alias for this record's credits as well. Lewis and Allan were the names of Meeropol's own two children who were stillborn and never lived, as his adopted son Robert later told: The Strange Story Of The Man Behind 'Strange Fruit'



Twitster 28th Oct 2014		Earl Robinson provides the introductory commentary for this release. Robinson gives credit to his co-writer on "The House I Live In," Lewis Allan, in his remarks. Lewis Allan is the pseudonym Abel Meeropol used on many of his compositions.



Twitster 28th Oct 2014		An interesting side note: Abel Meeropol, who also composed "Strange Fruit" which became one of Billie Holiday's signature songs, would adopt the two young sons (Michael and Robert) of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg following their executions on espionage charges in June, 1953.
