The date of Oct 1948 is correct (see Paul Pelletier's Tempo/London Jazz/Jazz Man booklet). Lyttelton's London Jazz label released 5 discs from May to Oct 1949, but this was in response to lack of interest from the larger labels.

Tempo only pressed 100 discs of each issue (1 test plus 99 for sale) to exploit a loophole in purchase tax rules. Fokeman's comment refers to the label design - which is from the Vogue period. The Tempo catalogue was re-pressed in commercial quantities by Vogue after they acquired it and announced their re-pressing plans in May 1954.

This record couldn't have come out before his own debut indie pressings. Should be 1950's as Fokeman says.

Given the label design and the early label number this is probably a later issue from the mid 1950s.
