Sounds as if you are talking about a Magic Note label with 6 patent dates at the bottom, which is the one on which this record was originally released in 1915. The patents for the recording technology were good for 25 years and reveal very little about a record's actual date.
As you can see from the fact that this record was repeatedly repressed for years, it was a very popular record from 1915 to the early 1920s. In fact, it was one of Columbia's mega-sellers, selling 279,000 copies (source) at a time when most other records were selling between 15-20,000 copies. So there are still lots of copies floating around, but far fewer people nowadays who collect this kind of music.
At estate sales, it's worth between 50c and $1.00 – if you can find a buyer. You'll find people on ebay charging far, far more, but it's unlikely that this record will ever sell for fantasy prices like $40 or $50. Most recently (Jan. 31, 2018), an ebay seller managed to sell a "like new" 1919 repress, after repeated relisting, for $2.75 + $4.00 S/H.
Hi, MY 78rpm has the earlier price of us of 75c and canada 85c also on the BOTTOM right has several patent dates! THE last date is nov 30th 1909 is that the correct date? ALSO at the top the COLUMBIA is in gold and READS "grand prizes paris 1900 st. Louis 1904 Milan 1906" can you tell me what year this 78rpm is and the value?
Both label designs list six patents in one line and date to ca. 1918. I'd say, though, that the labels you just uploaded (scans 1146804 & 1146805) are slightly earlier because they list a lower price.
Earlier in 1918:
Price in U.S.A: 75c; Price in Canada: 85c.
Letter combo IZ / IZ
Later in 1918: Let
Price in U.S.A: 85c; Price in Canada: 90c.
Letter combo EY (but with new price sticker on top of the old price) / GY (new price printed)
What's interesting is that the letter combinations on the right change too, but not in the same way. I thought they represent price codes, but maybe not.
