 Guido Deiro himself described how he first learned about the "Sharpshooters March" and came to record and publish his own arrangement of it:

 For those out there fluent in Piedmontese Italian, there's a page devoted to the history of "Ciribiribin", with the original Piedmontese lyrics and four music videos, including two Italian versions, Harry James' 1939 version, and an operatic-sounding Japanese adaptation by Kiyoko Otani:

 One of the people commenting on the Youtube video of Guido Deiro's performance of "Sharpshooters' March" mentions that this composition is different from Richard Eilenburg's "Il Bersaglieri", despite the attribution on the label.

Apparently, the piece really is the march "Curro Cúchares" (The Bullfighters' March) by Gerardo Metallo, which an organist in Germany played for Deiro in 1907. The organist couldn't remember the name of the song, and that's how it ended up being falsely attributed to Eilenburg.

Another Youtube video claims that "Curro Cúchares" is, in fact, based on Eilenburg's march:
