Composer George Gershwin died July 11, 1937. To honor him, RCA Victor devoted one installment of its popular weekly radio program on NBC, called The Magic Key of RCA, to a Gershwin Memorial Program. This hour-long show was recorded at and aired from NBC's New York studios on July 10, 1938, the day before the first anniversary of George Gershwin's death.
This is an interesting mix of pressings indeed. All three of RCA Victor's pressing plants at the time (Camden, Indianapolis, and Hollywood) are represented. Some of the labels still list patent nr. 1637544 (so they are from early Fall 1937-Early Fall 1941), others display a gap where that patent number used to be listed (meaning they are late Fall 1941-Fall 1943 represses).
It appears that at some time, some of the records in this album were replaced. I do not think that they are all the original records that came with the album because of the different pressings.
There is an error on the side 8 label (cat. # 12335-B) (C 29-8) (Image # 1898884) which has Sonny Schuyler's first name as "Sonnny"
