The 45 of this record has appeared twice on eBay in the last three months and sold for £50 each time, however in my seven years of record collecting I have never found the 78. Teresa Brewer first recorded the song in America and then it was released in the UK the same year, I have Teresa‘s version on 45 and 78,

I have two copies of the Sheet Music for this record, it features Alma Cogan, Teresa Brewer & Lita Rosa's heads put onto mermaid bodies.

However, Alma's record of this has proved very hard to find, seven years of looking for this record and I still haven't found a copy! Alma's version on 45 has proved just as hard to find.

Teresa Brewer's version, I have on both Coral Vogue 45 & 78 - The 45 was an extremely lucky find, I had to buy a bundle of her 45s to get it, most were ones I already had, but I paid £20 for the lot, when I probably would have paid that for Skinnie Minnie on its own.

Lita Roza absolutely hated the song, and rightly so! It's one of the weirdest songs I've ever heard, a definite obscurity, are they trying to put on an italian accent? Lita's version, I never much cared to own, it's not that I don't think she was talented, I just prefer to find the original artists recordings rather than a cover versions, though Alma's version of Skinnie Minnie is an exception, as I admire her with a passion. Her joy radiates through the disc and you can really feel it.
