Copyright in a film expires 70 years after the end of the year in which the death occurs of the last to survive of the principal director, the authors of the screenplay and dialogue, and the composer of any music specially created for the film.

In other words by the time they are dead , so , generally , is anyone whom might have a passing interest in the subject , etc. Even if out of copyright it does not stop anyone charging for a copy of any original or otherwise they may have in their possession or on their website.

However , Copyright in a broadcast expires 50 years from the end of the year of making of the broadcast. Which is interesting as some Pathe newsreels were shown in theatres as relay cable broadcasts using the Baird and similar systems in the late 1940s. I am not certain if newsreels are classed as films ( which one thinks of as 'entertainment' ) or not , the statue does not make clear , requiring a knowledge of legal judgements.

Used a different name here as Jack Hylton's Kit Cat Band released several 1925-26, see here.
Jack Hylton's Hyltonians (Dec 1926- May 1927) and records by The Kit Cat Band (on Columbia) should also appear here in time.

Recorded Hayes, 31 Aug 1926

Here's a link to a British Pathé silent film (with non silent advert) about The Kit Cat Cub.

EDIT just watched it, it has little relevance to this record. Save the 40 quid the clip costs to buy! Suff like this should surely be in the Public Domian by now?
