scrough 7th Jul 2017		This disc, bought at a jumble sale in the late 1950s, was my introduction to the world of 78s, and I still love it. Lead vocalist on 'Song Of The Dawn' here is Bing Crosby, who was due to take the part in the film, but was unable to do so - due to being jailed for a motoring offence according to Wikipedia. This track was recorded 21 March 1930. Bing was replaced in the film by John Boles see HMV B 3456.



slholzer 7th Jul 2017		The nearest number for which we have data, Columbia CB 86, is dated 1930. It seems probable that CB 87 is also from that year. There is, however, a very large gap between CB 86 and the next number in that sequence for which we currently have release information, which allows for the possibility that CB 87 was issued as late as 1931. Pending better information, I have declined to fill in the year of release.
