Notes

B side:
The full name of this song is 'Shojoji no tanuki bayashi' (Raccoon Dogs Dancing at Shojoji Temple). The song is based on a poem written by 野口雨情 (Ujou Noguchi) in 1924, to which 中山晋平 (Shinpei Nakayama) added the music in 1925. Eartha Kitt made the song popular in the US when she recorded it with English lyrics in 1955.

Thank you, kei masaru, for providing all this additional information. It makes this entry both more interesting and useful. It's true, though, that the credits are supposed to mirror what's on the record. So I have moved your information (with some minor additions) into the Notes.

The lyrics with English translation are here:

Eartha Kitt, who spoke four or five languages and sang in even more (including French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Hebrew, and Swaheli), sings it in Japanese and English:

Thanks, good info. Not sure if it should be in the credits though, since not listed on the record.
