The HMV UK Trade Catalogue page covering this entry has been uploaded. I should point out that this record is part of the Connoisseur Catalogue, which was not part of the main catalogue, so these records were rarely included in monthly release supplements, so their dates represent when they were first pressed, and were only available to special order.
I didn't change the date because I wanted the source of the date submitted. Your link to the Tito Schipa LP notes explains it - All recorded in Milan and first issued in Italy - so on La Voce Del Padrone label. The cat number was allocated in 1937, but HMV UK didn't get around to pressing it until 1939. I wonder why?
Since you have evidence that proves that this record was released out of order in August 1939, why don't you change the date yourself? If you can, it would be great to see, maybe, a copy of the entry in the HMV trade catalog where this record is announced as a new release.
HMV release dates can be very disconnected from Cat.Number, especially in the DA/DB series. All my HMV trade catalogues repeat the date I gave (within a batch of 1937 releases), but with near exceptions of DB3059-62 as Aug 1940, and DB3090-92 as Aug 1938. DB 4400-4699 are 'German' recordings in this series starting around 1932. The UK recording series ended at 4049, then jumped to DB 5700 upwards around early 1940.
You are right, this is a British release (have changed it accordingly). But
C. 3067 would have been issued in 1939. The DB series, based on what we now have in the database, should be in the 4600s in 1939.
I'm interested in why this record has been allocated to the USA, as it would normally have been on Victor there, if released. It has 'Made In England' and its numbering is part of the UK numbering series. It was released in the UK in August 1939, so I'd also question the date given.
